When you are dealing with someone who is having a heart attack or you think they are suffering from one, you need to place the patient in a position that places the least stress on the heart.  To achieve this, it is best to sit the person down, leaning against a wall with their legs raised (W position). It is important not to lay the person down and raise the legs as you would treat a person suffering from shock, as this will force more blood into the centre of the body and make the suffering heart work harder.
